Since 2010, GES Energy has been turning visions for green energy into reality. We manage the entire process — from initial studies and concept development, through design and equipment supply, to construction, technical supervision, and commissioning.

From Energy to Infrastructure

Today, the company is expanding its activities into investment planning and construction of public and residential buildings, as well as infrastructure projects. Our team combines engineering expertise, proven hands-on experience, and high execution standards to deliver reliable, long-term solutions.

A Legacy Built with You

Since 2010, GES has journeyed from building its first solar power plant in Bulgaria to implementing international projects and diversifying into hydropower and infrastructure developments. Within a decade, the company reached 50 MWp of installed capacity and established itself as a reliable partner in the renewable energy sector. With the founding of Elfinity and the Bulgarian Hydrogen Institute, GES continues to drive innovation and develop sustainable solutions for the future.

2010
The begining of the journey
GES laid its foundations with the construction of its first photovoltaic power plant in the village of Mokresh, with a capacity of 4.2 MWp. This marked the first step toward our mission of clean energy and a sustainable future.

Breakthrough on the international stage
The company completed its first project outside Bulgaria: a 7.2 MWp solar park in Vieru, Romania.

Diversification and innovation
GES renovated the boutique hotel Oborishte 5 in Sofia, marking its entry into the real estate sector. In the same year, the company built its first small hydropower plant in Chomakovtsi (900 kW), demonstrating expertise across various renewable energy sources.

A decade of success
GES celebrates 10 years of sustainable growth, reaching 50 MWp of installed capacity — a year of reflection and new ambitions for the future.

Hydroden
GES founded the Bulgarian Hydrogen Institute, laying the groundwork for the future of hydrogen energy in the country.

15 years of sustainable growth
GES celebrates its 15th anniversary, reaching an impressive 110 MWp of installed capacity. The company takes a new strategic step forward by launching the construction of its first energy storage systems, further strengthening its position as an innovator in the green transition.

Born in 1977 in Ruse, Bulgaria, and raised in the small provincial town of Byala, he has built a diverse career in electrical engineering.

From 1990 to 1995, he completed his studies at the Radio Technical School “A.S. Popov” in Veliko Tarnovo, specializing in “Electrical Equipment for Industrial Enterprises.” Following his education, he served 18 months of compulsory military service in the Border Troops in Elhovo.

Between 2000 and 2005, he earned a degree in “Electrical Energy and Electrical Equipment” from the Technical University of Sofia.

Since 2005, he has worked as an electrical designer at Oscar-El, where he received training in Eplan-5 and participated in the design of large industrial installations. He continued as an industrial project designer until 2009, when he began working on photovoltaic installations for a major German company.

From 2011, he took on the role of technical manager in the construction of ground-mounted photovoltaic power plants. Subsequently, he served as the manager of Electro Trade Bulgaria Ltd. for several years. In 2018, he returned to active work in the construction of photovoltaic installations.

In 2023, he joined the GES Energy team as Technical Director, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the organization.

Todor Madzharov

Todor Madzharov serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Commercial Director at GES Energy AD. He is responsible for strategic partnerships with key clients and suppliers, develops strategies to increase revenues and expand GES Energy AD’s presence in the sectors of renewable energy, construction, and electromobility.

Todor joined GES Energy in March 2020 and has held positions such as Business Development Expert, Business Development Director, and Chief Executive Officer from January 2023 to October 2023. He is also the founder of the Bulgarian Hydrogen Institute Association, which, in collaboration with GES Energy, develops projects in hydrogen technologies for transportation, industry, and energy.

In 2017, Todor completed his Bachelor’s degree in Navigation at the Nikola Y. Vaptsarov Naval Academy in Varna. After stepping foot on five continents as a navigation officer, in 2018 he decided to further his education in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, where he earned a Master’s degree in Renewable Energy at Hanze University in Groningen. Since 2021, he has been a PhD candidate in electrochemistry and hydrogen energy systems at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of the same name.

Todor’s hobbies include fishing, strength sports, and squash.

Mr. Nelkovski has extensive experience in the energy sector, having worked with some of the leading companies in the country. He holds a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Sofia. At GES Energy, he serves as an electrical design engineer for photovoltaic power plants and possesses limited design certification.

Recently, he has taken on the responsibility for the operation and maintenance of all photovoltaic systems in our portfolio. He ensures that the systems under the company’s care operate at high efficiency, supported by our monitoring center, where all malfunctions are promptly addressed.

Tsvetan is a lead designer and electrical specialist with 18 years of experience in the design and construction of electrical installations and equipment. His expertise is focused on photovoltaic systems, local energy storage facilities (batteries), and infrastructure such as transformer substations and cable lines for connection to the electrical grid (EES). He holds a master’s degree in “Power Supply and Electrical Equipment” from the Technical University.

He is involved in the preparation of investment projects and the technical management of both internal and external electrical installations for residential, public, and industrial buildings. Tsvetan also has experience in preparing bills of quantities (BoQ) and specialized offers, ensuring precise project planning and budgeting.

Tsvetan is a member of the Chamber of Engineers in the Investment Design (KIIP) with full design qualifications.

Liliya graduated from the Technical University of Sofia with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Renewable Energy Sources. Her interest in photovoltaics began during her studies, and she has been professionally involved in the field since 2007, when she took part in the design of the first megawatt-scale photovoltaic plant in Bulgaria.

Since then, she has been actively engaged in the design of rooftop and ground-mounted solar installations in both Bulgaria and across Europe, including energy storage facilities.

Since the spring of 2025, she has been working at GES Energy, where she is responsible for organizing the entire design process and serves as an electrical design engineer.
